Holiday Road Toll = Zero

The Queens Birthday Weekend road toll period has ended with no road deaths on Bell Block and New Zealand Roads. This is a dramatic improvement on the same weekend last year, when there were four fatal crashes resulting in seven deaths, Ministry of Transport figures show. it is the first time since records began in 1956 that there have been no deaths on New Zealand roads during Queens Birthday Weekend. The highest toll was 24 deaths in 1973.
