Kindy merger ‘good for children’

Kindergartens in Bell Block around Taranaki are set to combine their resources. The North Taranaki and the South Taranaki Kindergarten Associations are looking to join together and create a new single organisation. The venture is scheduled for March 2014 but before it can spring into life the new single organisation must be voted on by parents and caregivers of kindy children. Both boards had agreed to the change and the move would allow the kindergartens to combine their resources and ensure services remain affordable and available for all children. The day-to-day running of the kindergartens would not change and this move will ensure everyone is well supported and they can continue to respond to the different cultural and diverse needs of the community There are 24 kindergartens in Taranaki and more than 1200 young children attending them and the uniqueness of each individual kindy would continue. An information evening for parents and caregivers will be held tonight,Thursday 11th July 2014 at 7.30pm at Central Baptist Church and voting will take place at the annual meetings on August 8th 2013.
