Taranaki has won its first pre-season rugby match of the season, beating Counties-Manukau 38-34 in Otorohanga today, Friday 26th July 2013. Plenty of tries were scored in what was a physical first-up match for both sides.The South Auckland team opened the scoring with an intercept try, and managed to stay on top of Taranaki, leading 21-19 at the half-time whistle. Although the lead swapped a number of times in the second half, two tries to Taranaki towards the end of the match was enough to seal the win.
