A small fuel spill under a Jetstar plane at Auckland Airport has caused further hold-ups for travellers this morning. The spill, from Jetstar flight 253 bound for Christchurch at 7.30am, had meant other planes had been delayed in getting to gates. An airport spokesman said airways staff had asked for a “local standby” after the fuel spill which meant emergency services were on standby to respond if needed. He said it was unlikely the spill would cause major delays. This comes after more than 14 regional flights were cancelled, and others delayed, because of heavy fog in Auckland. International flights and those to main centres were not affected. So far this morning in New Plymouth the 7.35am flight arriving from Auckland has been cancelled as well as the 7.55 departing flight to Auckland.
