Georgie Pie is back and just as good as ever, say some Bell Block based fans. Steak mince ‘n’ cheese pies went on sale yesterday, Wednesday 4th December 2013 at the main McDonald’s in New Plymouth, and the branch sold around 200 in the noon to 2pm lunchtime rush. “Everybody remembers it as the same pie,” and “Everyone eats it in their own way. They have their own idiosyncrasies – pulling it apart, using a knife and fork.” Feedback from customers had been fairly positive, with words such as “good” and “yummy” thrown around. However, with a $4.50 charge, there are questions whether their popularity will last. But the pie is no longer available for a single gold coin as so fondly remembered. For some bizarre reason, the pie will be in the Hawera McDonald’s on December 12 2013, and then New Plymouth’s Centre City food court on February 17 2014.
