Both Kalvin and Sahib Singh have migrated a few times in their life’s, but both now call Bell Block home. Kalvin attended with 30 people from some of Taranaki’s 57 migrant communities, at a luncheon marking International Migrants Day on Monday 16th December 2013. The event was put on by Settlement Support Taranaki, and held at the Western Institute of Technology Taranaki. “Kalvin said we all come from different walks of life, and we have some similarities and differences, it’s important to become part of our new communities, but it’s also important to celebrate our own cultural roots and the things that are of value to us. The United Nation’s International Migrant Day will be officially celebrated today, Wednesday 18th December 2013. Both Kalvin and Sahib own The Big Basket Wholesale Food Mart in Bell Block, which is about to celebrate it’s first year of business.
