A large group of family were in court this morning,Wednesday 5th February 2014 to support the New Plymouth mother charged with causing the death of Wiremu Thompson on the road north of Bell Block early on Sunday, 2nd February. Kylee Denise Wallace, 37, was remanded on bail to reappear on February 19th 2014 after the short appearance before a registrar in the New Plymouth District Court. Wallace has been charged with drunk driving causing the death of Mr Thompson, 19, of Bell Block about 5am on February 2nd 2014. Bell Block Police said at the weekend that Mr Thompson was walking along the highway with his cousin returning home from a party in Waitara when he was hit and died at the scene opposite Big Jim’s Garden Centre on State Highway 3. Wallace’s bail conditions include not being permitted to drive, consume alcohol or contact family members of the deceased. About 15 friends and family sat silently in the public gallery in support of Wallace.
