A woman who mistakenly thought she was on the Bell Block highway after leaving a nearby pub in Bell Block ended up crashing into the gates of the New Plymouth Golf Club. The Bell Block police attended the incident on Pohutukawa Drive on Friday night, 7th March 2014. The woman was breath-tested but results were not available yesterday, Police said. The woman left Bell Block’s Shifty’s Sports Bar and failed to take the correct turn. ”She was thinking she was on the main road,” Police said. Pohutukawa Drive used to be the main highway but is now a dead end street after completion of the highway into New Plymouth some years ago. The Bell Block based New Plymouth Golf club’s general manager Simon Rowe said the crash had wrecked the poles that hold up the barrier arms.
