Speed tolerance drops to 4kmh over limit

Watch that speedo over Easter because police will have little tolerance for speeding. Between 4pm yesterday, Thursday 17th April 2014 and 6am on Monday, April 28, 2014 people driving more than 4kmh over the speed limit will be stopped. The speed limit tolerance is usually 10kmh. Also, Central Districts road policing manager Inspector Dave White urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before leaving on a trip. In particular, tyre tread is a crucial safety factor in winter conditions. Driver distraction will also be targeted. “Responsible drivers tell us they don’t want to share the roads with drunk, drugged, speeding, or dangerous drivers.” Motorists can visit onthe move.govt.nz or call 0800 4 HIGHWAYS for either the latest highway conditions or to report incidents or hazards on the state highways. Anyone seeing a dangerous or erratic driver can dial *555 free from their mobile phone. After they pull over of course, yeah right!!!
