Bell Block Rugby Fans out in Force to support the Cheifs

Bell Block Rugby fan’s are ready for Tonight’s Super Rugby,Friday 9th May 2014 game against the Blues in New Plymouth. This is the first of a series of crucial New Zealand Conference battles, The Chiefs need to quickly establish New Plymouth as home territory tonight if they are to extend the Blues’ win drought on the road to 14 matches. With just five points separating the five New Zealand Super Rugby teams, every conference derby is pivotal to the battle for the top spot, which the Chiefs currently hold, and this is the first of five of them that remain for the defending champions. A loss tonight in their first home game at Yarrow Stadium and then a bye next week would give all the Chiefs’ rivals a chance to zoom past them on the table and put pressure on the back-to-back champions to even make the playoffs. A victory, and the Blues’ confidence on the road will be well and truly undermined as they slip further back, and the Chiefs will go into the bye knowing they have done everything they can to keep ahead of the pack, albeit with the Crusaders and Highlanders having a game in hand. But the Blues are chock full of talent, boasting eight past or present All Blacks in their starting lineup to the Chiefs’ five. Former All Black loose forward Jerome Kaino has started to hit his form of old for the first time since returning from Japan and is certain to have a huge battle with Chiefs skipper and All Blacks incumbent No 6 Liam Messam. AT A GLANCE

CHIEFS: Tom Marshall, Dwayne Sweeney, Tim Nanai-Williams, Bundee Aki, James Lowe, Gareth Anscombe, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Liam Messam (c), Sam Cane, Tanerau Latimer, Brodie Retallick, Mike Fitzgerald, Ben Tameifuna, Nathan Harris, Pauliasi Manu. Reserves: Mahonri Schwalger, Jamie Mackintosh, Josh Hohneck, Matt Symons, Liam Squire, Brad Weber, Andrew Horrell, Anton Lienert-Brown

Bell Block Schools to receive Money from dirt

A Bell Block business is giving away dirt – by the truckload. Bell block based Symons Transport has about 2000 cubic metres of topsoil and the company is giving it away in exchange for a small donation. People can come and take the topsoil by ute or car trailer, make a donation and it goes to a local school. People could also have the topsoil delivered by one of Symons Transport’s trucks, paying only the donation and transportation costs. The idea to give the topsoil away for a donation came , after the company, began to develop a 1.2 hectare block of land on Connett Rd East in Bell Block. Once developed, it would be used to store drill casing, as a general lay down area and as parking for the company’s large fleet of trucks. The company hoped to be able to donate about $5000 to each school.
