Jetstar to use Bell Block Airport?

Jetstar has announced plans to start flying to regional destinations in New Zealand including our Bell Block based New Plymouth airport from later this year. The airline, which is owned by Qantas, made the announcement on Thursday 18th June 2015. The move could be a winner for Bell Block and Taranaki travellers, as competition heats up. Jetstar said the move would bring “much-needed” competition and more affordable fares to those outside the country’s main centres.
A fleet of five 50-seat Bombardier Q300 turbo-prop aircraft will fly to at least four regional destinations initially.Other cities also under consideration include Hamilton, Rotorua, Napier, Palmerston North, Nelson and Invercargill. Jetstar has also launched a social media campaign asking customers which regions they most want serviced. Regional fares will go on sale in September 2015 with the first flights taking off in early December 2015.
