Club sport has been cancelled across Taranaki and Bell Block because of flooding. The Taranaki Rugby Football Union took the unprecedented step of cancelling all senior rugby after the majority of club grounds became flooded. Community rugby manager Bruce Major said the decision to call off matches was made mid-morning after club’s reported grounds were not fit to play. Bell Block Gladiators Senior Rugby 3rd’s game was due to be played in Inglewood. Rugby was not the only sport to be affected, however, with club rugby league and football also cancelled across Taranaki.
