Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management says people should stay away from Bell Block Beach and Bell Block’s Mangati Stream because of sewage contamination following heavy rain. The Bell Block sewerage system has been overwhelmed by stormwater and the New Plymouth District Council has shut down the Bell Block sewage pumping station. People are advised to stay away from all Bell Block beaches, rivers and streams for the next three days.
