Signs are up at Bell Block Beach

One of the two bioreactors at the New Plymouth Wastewater Treatment Plant will be taken out of service next week for regular maintenance. The work started on Monday 8th June 2015 and may should finish on Tuesday the 23rd June 2015. During this time, all of the plant’s effluent will be fully screened and disinfected although some of it will bypass the second bioreactor. “The quality of the treated wastewater will comply with their consent conditions from Taranaki Regional Council,” they will also take the precaution of erecting warning signs between Fitzroy and Bell Block beaches to advise that there’s a possibility that shellfish may become contaminated and should not be collected.”
