In damp and mainly overcast conditions the A+ Driveways Bell Block Marist Dragons Rugby League team won 28-14? over the fast improving Coastal Cobra’s. For the 1st time in months the Dragons got off to a brilliant start, with 3 quick tries to lead at half time in muddy ground conditions an impressive 22-4. And just as well, as this time the weather gods dumped heavy rain in the final 20 minutes of the 2nd half, which made playing even tougher and for the crowd near impossible to stay and watch. Also for the first time in months the Bell Block Dragons lost the 2nd half 6-10 as for long periods of time Costal Cobra’s had possession of the ball with Bell Block’ defense remaining tight, but constantly under attack.
Today, Saturday 18th July saw the Premier race day at Pukekura Raceway cancelled due to a waterlogged track. Slow Pressure build up from a gas leak in Bell Block caused a main section of road to collapse on Monday morning 13/07/2015. Bell Block Police immeidately cordoned off the intersection of Parklands and Lantana Avenues when it was discovered a medium pressure gas main was ruptured. Parklands Ave was cordoned off around the rupture while the extent of the damage was investigated. It was possible the damage to the line was caused by an earthquake in May. Permanent repairs will be completed this week, weather depending. The rupture did not impact on residential gas supply.

On behalf of Sea Shepherd New Zealand, a big thank you to the people that were part of their beach clean at Bell Block Beach at 11am on Saturday 11th July 2015 today. Many car tyre’s were found along with the normal lot’s of Rubbish. An excellent result for the public who use Bell Block beach.
There was no game played on Saturday 11th July 20015 at Hickford Park, Bell Block for the Table Topping A+ Driveways Bell Block Marist Dragons Rugby League team due to the Waitara Bears Rugby League Club defaulting being unable to field a team. Next Saturday 18th July 2015 sees the semi-final game also to be played at Hickford Park, Bell Block against the fast improving Coastal Cobra’s. Should be a great game.
The 2015 Rugby Season is over for The Bell Block Gladiator’s Rugby Club. After going unbeaten all season in Taranaki Rugby’s Lowest Senior Division…Senior 3rd’s, they lost their killer touch when it mattered. After a brilliant 1st try from Bell Block, Spotswood United, (Spotty Dogs) took control of the first half to lead Bell Block 17-15 at half time in perfect weather conditions at Bell Block’s Hickford Park.. The 2nd half was a mess for Bell Block. The goal kicker for Bell Block was embrassing, wasting chances to put Bell Block ahead,. Bell Block’s half back passes of the ball were more Netball passes than rugby passes, so many times the ball was dropped by team members and wrong options taken with kicking the ball. Add to that, some excellent defense by the Spotty Dogs, which kept Bell Block unable to score the whole 2nd half, with the Spotty Dogs running out deserved winners 24-15. So 2016 sees Bell Block Gladiator’s Rugby Club back at the bottom level in Taranaki Rugby. Perhaps they need to look at the fitness levels of the players next door at The Bell Block Marist Rugby League Club?
Thanks to both Lions Club’s in Bell Block, Olivia Dore is now able to stand alone and even take tentative steps forward in her new Hart Walker. The five-year-old, born with 1p36 deletion syndrome, got the orthotic walking frame with financial support from our 2 Bell Block Lions clubs. Her mother, Penelope Kay, said Olivia enjoyed being in the frame, which cost just under $10,000. Bell Block Puketapu Lions Club and the Bell Block and Districts Lions Club worked hard over the 12 past months to help raise the funds along with the other Lions Clubs in North Taranaki.

Changes include: Free GP visits and prescriptions for children under 13. This will benefit more than 750,000 children across the country. The National government is committed to giving our youngest New Zealanders the best start in life, and that means ensuring they’re able to go to the doctor any time of the day or night without their parents having to worry about the cost.
Once again the Bell Block Marist Dragons showed their fitness levels are far greater than any other team in the Taranaki premier grade rugby league competition in 2015. For at least the 3rd game in a row the competition leaders came from behind at half time and cruised to victory 26 -12 over The Coastal Cobra’s by showing they are smarter..bolder..faster and most importantly..fitter than any other team under the mountain this season. Today’s game (Saturday 4th July 2015) kicked off at 2pm at Bell Block’s Hickford Park in Overcast and damp conditions. The A+ Driveways Bell Block Marist Dragons crashed to be behind 4 points to 12 at Half time. However as per the norm these days at half time the coach has a few stern words to the boys, waves his magic wand and game over, The Costal Cobra’s don’t score again as the Bell Block Dragons go on to score 22 unanswered points to cruise home to the final whistle in front of a small home crowd.
