First Sod of Earth Dug at Bell Block’s BMX Super Track

In typical Winter conditions on Wednesday 1st July 2015 at 4pm around 50 People gathered at Hickford Park in Bell Block to witness the Blessing of the Land and the turning of the first Sod of earth. Reverend Albert (Albie) Martin spoke of the meaning of the blessing as he walked the crowd to every corner of the soon to be built track. Our Deputy Mayor was there, Heather Dodunski, Neil Cowley (with the Spade) and Blair Riddick from the Taranaki BMX Trust thanked a number of groups and companies, but made special mention of the Club Members from the Bell Block Softball Club who greatly helped this 4 year project get going by agreeing to shift their Playing surface further along Hickford Park.
