The Taranaki Regional Council (TRC) was notified of the spill, which ended up in the Mangati stormwater treatment system in Bell Block, by MI Swaco around midday Wednesday.

Port Taranaki Bulls Mauled by Wellington Lions

In overcast conditions on Saturday 15th August 2015 at Yarrows Stadium in New Plymouth the 2014 ITM Cup Champions, The Port Taranaki Bulls were beaten 14-19 by the Wellington Lions. There will be great concerns about a rising injury toll that could make this a difficult NPC season ahead. The 3 members of the All Black Squad who played did nothing to help secure them getting picked for the Rugby World Cup. After dominating the opening half hour and putting two tries on the board, Wellington had to withstand a decent old comeback from Taranaki before they eventually won 19-14. Wellington 19 (Brad Shields, Vaea Fifita, Joe Hill tries; Jonny Bentley 2 cons) Taranaki 14 (Codey Rei try; Marty McKenzie 3 pens, con).

Bell Block and SH3 Intersections to be fixed

Frustrated at a lack of action on some of the country’s most dangerous intersections, Taranaki’s regional transport committee chairman has submitted his own hand-drawn designs for consideration. Roger Maxwell sent a copy of his freehand plans to the NZ Transport Agency in the hope it would fast-track the safety improvements for three intersections on State Highway 3 near bell Block. In 2014 the NZTA released a national list of the 100 most dangerous intersections. Three of them are on the stretch of SH3 between Bell Block and Waitara with Mangati Rd, ranked 8th most dangerous, Princess St, ranked 18th, and Raleigh St ranked 64th. Safety improvements between Bell Block and Waitara were a high priority for the agency, she said, with eight deaths and 16 serious injuries happening between 2008 and 2012 on the busy stretch of highway.

Bell Block Residents to vote on New NZ Flag

The Flag Consideration Panel has announced 40 possible flag alternatives – including these. The process to choose what could be New Zealand’s new flag has narrowed to 40 options. On Monday afternoon 10/08/2015 the Flag Consideration Panel released a “long list” of 40 designs, chosen from more than 10,000 options submitted by the New Zealand public. In mid-September 2015 the panel is expected to announce four of them to be subject to a national referendum. The most popular design will then go head-to-head with the current flag in another referendum in March 2016. Most people we speak to are happy with the current flag, however there are a few designs here that could work…what do you think?
