Bell Block Rocked by Strong Earthquake

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Bell Block and mush of the lower North Island on Monday evening 12th October 2015 just after 9.05pm. GeoNet reported the shake was of severe intensity, 30 kilometres deep, about 15km east of Pongaroa, in the Tararua district. Aftershocks could continue for weeks, with some possibly reaching as large as magnitude 5. The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management said there was no tsunami threat.
