Bell Block Bus Fare Price Jump….1st in 3 years

Bus fares are set to increase for New Plymouth’s Citylink bus passengers from 1 February 2016..Cash fares, concession and child smartcard fares will increase, but adult smartcard fares will remain unchanged.• cash fares – increase $0.20
• Child and Concession smart card fare – increase $0.10• Child 40-trip fare – increase $0.05/trip. $2 for 40-trips. Taranaki Regional Council Transport Services Manager Chris Clarke says the rise in cash fare prices is expected to result in more adults using smartcards, bringing operational and financial efficiencies. It is the first fare increase in three years and will help off-set continual improvements to the bus service, such as:
• Security cameras installed on buses• Minimum Smart Card top-up dropped from $10 to $5• Retail network of ticketing machines, planned for the New Year, allowing passengers to top-up cards at the Bus Centre, Puke Ariki i-SITE, Bell Block and Waitara libraries.• Reviewing Saturday services and Bell Block and Waitara Route 20 service.
