{Disarmed} Massive day for the bright future of Bell Block

An end to the bottlenecks at Waiwhakaiho is now in sight with the $16 million Vickers Rd project set to begin. After five years of planning, investigation, consents and tendering work, construction officially start’s today now that Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee has turned the first sod. Gridlocks and congestion have been a bugbear for people for years and have raised concerns about emergency access to the northern side of the bridge. But the time of frustration was coming to an end now that construction was under way, New Plymouth MP Jonathan Young said. “For us in New Plymouth, Bell Block and Waitara it will signal the end of an era of bottlenecks and traffic jams,” he said. The project would be completed by Christmas 2015. The Vickers Road project would include two new bridges, one over the Waiwhakaiho River and one over the Te Henui Stream, as well as double lanes on both sides of the road. Bell Block will boom in 2016 and beyond!!!

Help the Police find Chaplain Stabber

Bell Block and Taranaki Police are seeking help from the public to identify a man who entered the Taranaki Base Hospital and assaulted the hospital chaplain a couple of days ago.. The offender is described as Caucasian, between 20-25 years-old, with short dark hair and short dark stubble on his face, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, and slim to medium build. He has a distinctive tattoo by his left eye described as rays of the sun coming out in five lines. “I caution the public to not approach the man but if they see him please call 111 immediately.” He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt (zip at the front) which was baggy and reached to his mid thigh, and black track pants with white stripes down the side of the legs. He was also wearing black fingerless gloves. “This is a very unique tattoo and would be easily recognisable. We are hoping someone has seen the man fleeing or seen him exit the hospital and I strongly encourage anyone with information to contact police. “The chaplain sustained minor injuries and is in a comfortable condition. He thanks everyone for their well wishes but has requested privacy at this time,” says Sergeant Irvine. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Plymouth Station on (06) 759 5500.
